Chairman Robert Catell, General David Petraeus & Laura Clegg:

Like to start this letter of response, with a word of thanks to those who came before me; they gave me the opportunity to speak and write these words. We as individuals, we as a people, we as a nation, we as a civilization have our way of life that is build on the substantial achievements of those who have lived before us. Some men in this nation had to face adversely and suffering so we can enjoy our family happiness and way of life that we have a today. My father used to say that “that which made this nation great and our military forces superior to all other nations was the ability of the American People and the American Soldier to think for him-self and to be responsible for him-self and his family.”

The American Dream:

I return from active military duty in 1973 to the state of affairs of the economy; which was similar to the state of the affairs of the economy today. Even the mind set of the people similar. As I look back in mind eye at the economy, I remember looking for work. As I applied for positions, I needed to answer the questions: work experience, what are your plans for the future? Due to the state of affairs of the economy, my father’s poor health, family situation, and our answers to this situation; we started a business of our own. Utilizing and building on my fortunate university education, with a degree in Electrical Technology from SUNY Farmingdale, combining said education with work experience in the Alarm Security field, love of freedom, and my fathers character; achieved by his overcoming his life giving adversities; we started an Alarm security business. As we pursued the American Dream we added to our family dream with my wife, additional children and more business experience.
Note: My Fathers health returned and he lived an additional 20 years of life while enjoying his continuing growing family and The American Dream.

During the early stages of the business an interesting turn of events accrued; the break up of the AT&T phone company. This inspired different opportunities and creative products in the telecommunication field; no longer did one phone company provide both transmission from the switching station to the home, home tecom products and full installation and service; the economic field came competitive. This freedom of the market place open the home to the creativity of manufactures, to independent contractors like Moore Enterprises Inc. Moore Enterprises Inc. expanded in the1980 to wire custom built homes for security system, telephone system, and audio-video systems We connected these sub-systems together and we created what today is known as A Smart House.

The National AMP Corporation Smart House Vision of the 90’s:

During the 90’s another turn of human event promoted by the Amp Corporation to fulfill its Smart House obligation and mission to expand its market share in its core business; Amp created an OEM product called Home Management System (HMS). The HMS major difference from the other Security based control products is its ability to communicate with its thermostats, lighting control, Audio/Video Systems, and access the Local Area Network (LAN) to the Wide Area Network (WAN); a True Smart House Controller!

“The Amp Corporation, the National Association of Homebuilders, Consumer Electronic Manufacturer Companies, Appliance Manufacturing Companies, conceived the idea of a Smart House with consumer smart products communicating with each other and providing additional services and home products to the consumer which would revolutionize their business, the housing industry, the economy and produce millions of manufacturing and contractor jobs.”

As the creative entrepreneurs once again reviewed the Vision of a Total Smart Economy a new Consumer Electronic Language was born:

A new association of manufactures, contractors and builders sort to create a new communication protocol called consumer electronic buss, (CEB); They realize that most of all the products and services in the home communicate over three mediums, (coax cable, copper wire (twisted-pair copper) and electrical wires.). A CEB Counsel was formed to promote this vision and the entrepreneurial race was on. Again came the race to create that CEB Gateway to the home product market.

With free economic capitalism and its silent will of the people came the revolution of the home computer and with said computer came the new communication protocol; transmission control protocol/Internet protocol, (TCP/IP); the rest is history and the CEB communicate protocol fell to the side and the will of the people was done. With the past failure of CEB and lack of reliability of data communication over the power-line, The Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) with wireless communication became the key.

An additional lesson was to be learned from this period in our electronic economic history; a Canadian company (DOMOSYS) in combination with utilities was creating pilot programs to test its data over power line chip to be in-betted in home products.

The Lesson of the DOMOSYS-Canadian Smart Consumer Utility Pilot Program.

The Key application of the DOMOSY Utility Gateway Product was it’s ability to convert data Watts to Dollars $$ on the Customer Gateway Display for viewing by customers with additional customer command and control of energy use in the home; the Customer-Utility Display Gateway that converted the Data (watts) to dollars ($) promoted Customer Engagement and the customer was able to respond to electricity usage in his home.

• He became (able to respond) (Responsible)
• The Consumer of Energy became responsible for his energy use;
• Responsible for his Dollars Spent On Energy.

The late1990’s Canadian Utility Pilot Programs using DOMOSYS Gateway Energy Management Displays substantiated the fundamental law of free economics; the people given the opportunity and information in a understandable format (THE DOMOSYS DISPLAYED watts in DOLLARS $$$) will make the correct energy choices of energy consumption, conservation and usage at the best economical time. On a personal note: Moore Enterprises Inc as a representative for DOMOSYS brought this information to a board table at KeySpan Energy with LIPA present.

The Utility Companies, DOMOSYS and companies like GE-Smart and Cutler Hammer were not able to surmount the Data Over Powerline failure due to electrical noise and corruption of data packets. It remained for a new breed of Entrepreneurs driven a World Crisis to enter

The Smart Marketplace of The Smart Grid:

“Climate change, national security and energy dependence are a related set of global challenges” that has motivated the U.S Government, universities, business leaders to unite behind a national policy of “energy independence, energy efficiency and “new energy sources” thus the implementation of a strategic smart grid plan in the US with related smart (products, homes, buildings and related services).

The perfect economic storm of Business searching for profits with their creative engineers seeking to full-fill the need and wants of the consuming electronic product market .driven by the people demand to have communication, command and control of their home plus the Utilities seeking to solve the National Energy Crisis while adding in the economic factor of Price $$$ (the need for contractors to do the work in an easy, economical, affordable manner

Total Integrated Smart Wireless Communication:

Wireless communication is at the center of the smart grid system, connecting users to their utility and the distribution networks, and supplying power companies with critically important real-time data. That capability allows them to make more timely and effective decisions. Wireless communications nodes are the critical links of the smart grid systems, gathering and processing streams of data from a variety of sources. The nodes connect smart appliances in homes with smart meters and the grid, and can provide consumers with information about which appliances are using energy and when and the ability to control them from anywhere, at anytime.

The wireless nodes are also in synch with line sensors, which detect how much power is flowing through the system at any given time, and then transmits that information to a central operations center. The sensors also indicate precisely where outages exist, information the nodes immediately transmit back to the utility hub, while simultaneously triggering technical work-arounds to find alternative routing for power transmission.

The Existing Smart Home Wireless Market

The UTC corporation which purchased intologic from GE , Honeywell Corporation, Linear Corporation, and Qolsys all have simple affordable All in one (Intrusion-Life Safety-Energy Management-Home Automation- Remote Cloud based customers command and control wireless gateway display control products. that communicate over four different wireless communication protocols.
• Wireless to Security and Life Safety Products (proprietary to manufacture)
• Wireless open protocol to, ZWave products
• Wireless to Cellular Network
• Wireless to TCP-IP LAN to WAN Network and products
• To come, Wireless to ZigBee Products.

Note: Moore Enterprises Inc. as a Dealer for the above manufactured home security-life safety-energy management-home automation Display Controls is utilizing the Alarm.com cloud services to offer customers, monitoring and remote command and control homes services

The MyHomeKey Lesson:

Another interesting story in my career was my involvement with MyHomeKey; the ultimate home web based internet gateway portal, linking customers to manufactured appliance, consumer products, service contractors, and Utilities.

“November 2001:San Francisco-based MyHomeKey.com shut down,
Founded in 1999, MyHomeKey provided homeowners online access to home repair and maintenance services, sale and delivery of appliances, home energy analysis and management and home information management. The company had partnerships with Sears, GE, Chem-Dry, Roto-Rooter, The Home Service Store, Carrier and HouseMaster.
Earlier this year, the company said it had 100,000 members.”
“New York, N.Y.-based utilities holding company KeySpan Corp. and Dallas, Texas-based electric service TXU Corp. each invested $12.5 million in the company in March 2000.”

The Failure of This Multi-Million Dollar Private Utility Enterprises;
Was due lack of Customer and Contractor Involvement:
As a potential consultant for said Enterprise “I advise the management to get the contractors and customers on-board, involve before they fully launch the enterprise.” gain their respect first:
Making Smart Metering Pay for Smart Conversation:
Lessons Learned

Recognition of Business Opportunities is relative to the optimistic out-look upon circumstance, events and the ability to see the sun behind the clouds; such an opportunity arose at an Electronic House Show trade event at Orlando Convention center during 2007 with the meeting of “Jeffrey H. Michel” author of the Making Smart Metering Pay For Smart Conversation: As a paid consultant for my experience and report created on Smart Homes, we agreed to and met in Cape Charles Va. to survey the possibility of creating a Smart House Community in said community. One of the lessons learnt from Jeffrey repot Making Smart Metering Pay for Smart Conversation of 2006.

• Improved Energy efficiency can not diminish the requirements for regional electrical power generation:
• Utility Profits have generally not been invested in demand side efficiency, but devoted instead to foreign acquisitions.
• As a rule, government guidelines and public subsidies for enhancing efficiency (in Germany) have focused on procedures inherent to purchasing or reconditioning buildings motor vehicles, and the equipment required for heating, power generation and manufacturing. Comparatively little regard is paid to ongoing consumption.

The Lesson of Physicists & History
Conservation of Energy,

“The randomness, or disorganization, that diminishes the effectiveness of any process is defined as entropy. This turn was originally proposed in the middle of the 19th century by Rudolph Clausius to specify the wasted quantity of usable energy that is irretrievably lost to dissipated heat… ”

As proved by the 19th century Physicist Rudolph Clausius and pointed out by Jeffery H. Michel in the in closed report; “when information is withheld from any point of system control the ability to make ordered decisions correspondingly declines. The misappropriation of energy resources is the invariable consequence reduces reduces process efficiency… ”

Energy-Dollar $$$ Wasted, Due To Dollar $$$ Information Withheld:

• Waste of Human Resources, and Capital Expenditure (Dollars $$$)
• Waste Due to lack of Consumer-Customer Engagement
• “Feedback is most effective when his immediate, prominent, accessible, and specific to the consumer.”

Real Time Metering With In House Display with Diversified Functions,

As Jeffery points out and I concur, the meter receives real time cost of power information from the utility and transfers this information to the customer being a wireless in-home graphic user interface display, the meters should be capable of also performing and for invoicing (to the customer display ) and communicating with utility.

As put Jeffrey’s report of the USCL Corporation Sacramento USA the wide area network specified for its metering concept should be structured to allow for the transfer of customer service messaging, emergency notification and homeland security messaging, emergency disconnect of electric gas and water services in the event a natural or man-made disasters and service personnel database and report transmittal. additional functions are presently being implemented individually;

Existing Diversified Functions,
• Intrusion alarms,
• Smoke alarms,
• Emergency medical alarms with
• Telemedicine

Utility Smart Diversified Functions,

• Service outage reporting,
• Service restoration reporting,
• Remote Service connect and Disconnect,
• Theft of power reporting,
• Over voltage and under voltage reporting
• Power factor monitoring and report transmittal.

As previously stated preparations were being made for demonstration installation in Cape Charles, Virginia USA. Many homes in this resort community are occupied only during the summer months underlying the particular needs the remote monitoring and surveillance at other times of the year.
Response Points to The PSEG 2.0 Plan:
• In order for investments in advance metering infrastructure and Investments to PSEG Energy Services and Future Plans to be justified both utility companies and consumers must intensify the conservation efforts, and two way communication with the consuming customer & contractor with the utility is essential
• The Communicating Protocol via a Customer Gateway Display Must Be Energy in Dollars $$$$.

Customer Expressed Desires:
• Control of their energy decisions
• Control of how much they spend on energy
• Control how energy used.
• Customers want the assurance of advance notice of interruption which they could also elect to override…
• Customers want self organize groups to be able to exchange data among themselves on a voluntary basis
• Customer free access to consumption data gathered together by utility companies on customer’s premises must thus be insured.

THL Gateway Display Smart Grid Solution:
THL Gateway Display

The essence of my recommendation to the NYS Public Service Commission, LIPA, NYSERDA, NYSSGC is to invest in a Company Business like Moore Enterprises Inc. resurrect MyHomeKey Vision with Utility Smart Grid Vision with existing consumer market players
(See ME Business Brief)

The essence of the ME business vision-mission is: combine and utilize the resources of NYSSGC, NYSERD, SUNY Farmingdale & SUNY Stonybrook; create a Smart Grid “MyHomeKey” web site , create a Smart Grid Customer Awareness Sales and Marketing Community-Door to Door Campaign utilizing Veterans (attending said university), manufacture a OEM Smart Grid Gateway Display to LIPA Specifications, educate train contractors on said Smart Grid Gateway Display, create a Dealer Network of said contractors and fulfill the NYS Smart Grid Mission to be a National Leader.

Moore Enterprises Inc. (ME), an existing Smart House Alarm Security Business centrally located in Garden City N.Y is seeking to create The “Intelligent Smart Home Grid” Veterans Training Facility for Veterans seeking to enter the Smart Grid-Smart House- arena: with assistance from Veteran Related Organization on Long Island N.Y and “Financial Assistance Funds” from Federal and State Veteran Organizations. NOTE: Special consideration of the Training Facility will be given to the “Training Courses” that promote and enhance the objectives of the mission to create •
, especially job creation, preservation, and economic recovery, by focusing on VETERANS ;
• A: Training Veterans in Related Existing Business;
• B: Training Employed, Un-Employed or Self-Employed Veterans as Contractors/Sub-Contractors exist in Electrical, Alarm Security, HVAC and Low Voltage Business;
• C ‘Train and Assist Qualified Veterans in obtaining their NY State Licenses in the above related fields and add New Veteran Business and additional Veterans to the N.Y.S. Economy.

In addition to the above, ME will meet additional requirement for future growth in said “Smart Grid” Market, and create additional value to ME plus additional services and additional revenue to said “Veteran Dealer” business by,
• D. Create a “Contracted Smart Grid-Smart House-Dealer Business Network with new up-graded products featuring related Intelligent Smart House Related Smart Grid connect products and services while assist ‘Dealer” business in development and project management.
• E. Re-develop Small Business-Consumer-Utility-Community Web-Portal following ‘Success” foundation of “MyHomeKey.com” with main focus on Veteran Small Business Development and Smart Home/Grid Grid Dealer Network.

ME web portal will allow homeowners to manage their homes through the site. ME plan to include such capabilities as allowing a customer to remotely manage home security system and temperature control over the Internet. It will provide detailed information about energy consumption and about neighborhood energy use. It will also allow customers to not only buy products, but also to research and schedule workers. For instance, someone who installed a Smart Grid Meter can now take advantage of the New Home WAN Gateway to the Utility Services, get discounted energy services, by controlling non essential energy consuming home products and find a related Veteran contractor for related smart product integration.

The Customer In-House “Smart Home Command & Control Display Unit” that communicates with the ME Home Automation-Management System and via the Smart Grid Metter with the Power Company will give the Customer a Real time in Dollars usage of his energy in his home by room, appliance, and application as well as command and control of the electrical and electronic devices in the home plus communication with the power company for ‘Account information such as billing and usage.

The State of New York, LIPA, NYSERDA, NYSSGC & Moore Enterprises Inc. and its Dealer Network is taking a Leadership Role Education, Training and Implementation of The Smart Grid.

Incorporate the past Visions of AMP and MyHomeKey, Domosys, Jeffrey H. Michel, Moore Enterprises Inc. and lessons learned from the National Smart Grid into New York State Smart Grid Plan; under the Long Island N.Y Leadership of L.I.P.A., N.Y.S.E.R.D.A , N.Y.S.S.G.C. with individual supervisory leadership of Robert Catell and Investment Capital from KKR and leadership advise from General David Petraeus.

Vision:

Total Home Land Security, National Energy Independence, Full Working U.S Economy.
Building a Smart Grid with Representative Leadership of The People.

U.S. Mission Plan:
The North American Economic Investment Surge

Note: KKR capital investment under the leadership of General David Petraeus is spear heading Capital Investments in North America.

It is my contention that: KKR Investments in North American Energy and Smart Grid Related Manufacturing Investments in Mexico (“KKR strike zone.”)
, like the Moore THL Customer Smart Grid Display, can help bring the U.S. and its North American trading partners into the economic leadership position of 21 Century while freeing the U.S from energy dependence with its ties to problems in the Middle East and our economic dependence on China’s capital investment and dependency on its economic politics.

KKR Quote:
“With Mexico, you have to look through a different investment lens to capture what the opportunity is. This is a country with a lot of internal demand already; almost 70% of the GDP is consumption. Contrast that with China, where it’s 36%. If you look at GDP per capita, it’s $11,000—that’s much more than most of the emerging markets. Other emerging markets, particularly in Asia and Africa, and it’s almost 80% urbanized. So, from a macro standpoint, this is wildly different from other things we see in the emerging-market opportunity set. The other thing that’s important to highlight is that Mexico is much more liked to America as well as just North America. So, we view it almost as the anti-China. As a firm, we’ve got a distinct thesis that the China manufacturing boom that dominated the 2000 to 2010 period is starting to slow, and we’re looking for other ways to play where we think we’re going to see incremental growth, either through manufacturing or emerging market growth. And, without question, Mexico is clearly in that
strike zone.”

Free Economic Capitalism with American Leadership:
Investments:

• American Energy Independence, American People, American Leadership,
• American Economic Policies
• Free North American Economic Trade Zone

My best regards
Edward F. Moore Jr.
